United Natural Foods, Inc. is consolidating its Racine County operations into a facility in Joliet, Illinois, resulting in the elimination of 443 positions, according to a notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The layoffs are scheduled to begin this summer. The 425,000-square-foot warehouse opened a little more than ten years ago. When the company chose Sturtevant for the center, bringing more than 200 jobs, the decision was celebrated as a major local economic development win.
